Visiting Lobe (Vancouver, BC)

Category: spatial sound system attunement, spatial sound engineering and artist support training

In December 2019 I was invited in spatial sound studio Lobe in Vancouver, BC by its founders and sound artists Kate De Lorme and Edo van Breemen. Alongside the founder of Spatial Sound Institute Paul Oomen, my tasks included advising with installation and calibration of the 4DSOUND system and sharing experience from previous spatial sound studios I worked in.

“Founded in Vancouver in 2020, Lobe is the first dedicated spatial sound studio in North America to work with a permanently integrated 4DSOUND system.
An array of speakers across the ceiling and under the floor, in conjunction with custom-designed vibroacoustic floor panels, entirely surround the listener in an immersive and haptic listening experience. Using 4DSOUND technology, sound ebbs and flows, forming sonic environments holographically and without perceivable sources.” as self-described by Lobe.
